Nestled in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a center of excellence in providing a continuum of care. This includes the Frank Residences, offering assisted living and memory care services; the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center, featuring long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and an acute psychiatric unit specialized in mental healthcare for older adults over age 55; and the Jewish Home and Senior Living Foundation.

Grounded in the Jewish values of dignity, compassion, and community, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living, fondly referred to in the past as "the Jewish Home," was founded in 1871. Today, 150 years later, it continues to build upon its legacy of enriching the lives of older adults.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Data Analyst supports the coordination of functions related to the Staffing Matrix, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Patient Safety, and Infection Control. Responsibilities include database management, coordination of special projects, and reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

This role provides analytics and data management support across multiple clinical services and systems, delivering actionable insights through various software tools. This position requires advanced technical expertise in database applications; data visualization software, Excel (including macros, templates, and pivot tables), as well as proficiency in techniques for automating tasks and productivity.

The Clinical Data Analyst also provides both technical and administrative assistance to the Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Quality Assurance, Infection Control Preventionist, and Risk Manager, as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Use data analysis to identify areas for improvement in staffing, patient care, or clinical processes.
  • Develop and maintain data management plans, including data preparation, validation, and related activities.
  • Provide computer support in creating graphs for various performance improvement projects.
  • Perform data uploads, validations, run reports, and maintain data integrity.
  • Extract data reports and metrics from various databases.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Director of Quality Assurance, Infection Control Preventionist, and Risk Manager as needed.
  • Generate and analyze daily scheduled reports compared to actual punch-in hours to identify anomalies, provide insights, and recommend action items.
  • Analyze overtime and extended schedules to calculate FTE requirements for management review. Provide backup timecard support to scheduling team and unit managers including pinch-in time corrections.
  • Review and code invoices for CNO approval – research causes, liaise with business partners, and assess budget impact.
  • Provide monthly clinical variance report to CNO for all departments, including variance drivers compared to the budget.
  • Collect data from various sources, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  • Analyze data using statistical tools and techniques to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Perform data cleaning, transformation, and modeling.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well organized findings.
  • Develop reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement data-driven solutions.
  • Ensure that all data management activities comply with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • May assist with staff training on data management procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in health- or analytics-related field (informatics, epidemiology, economics, statistics, or similar discipline focused on analytics).
  • Minimum of t two years’ experience working in a regulated environment; one year of direct experience in healthcare, senior services, or long-term care is preferred.
  • Experience auditing organizational records and documentation is also preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum two years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel (including pivot tables, graphs, and formulas), Access, and PowerPoint.
  • At least one of experience with statistical analysis software.
  • At least one of experience with T-SQL (Microsoft SQL Server), preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated technical experience with query software for accessing and retrieving data from a T-SQL databases, and spreadsheet tools form managing large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced knowledge of macros, pivot tables, and query design to automate tasks and boos productivity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast-paced, multi-project environment under deadline pressure.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of computer programs and databases.
  • Strong desire to make meaningful impact in health care and embrace complex challenges.
  • Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) graphs and data Interpretation
  • Familiarity with medical or clinical terminology preferred, though not required.
