Position Summary:

The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District seeks a visionary educational leader dedicated to equity, who promotes the empowerment of every student and staff member through the collaborative development of a vision for learning shared and supported by the community. This position will provide leadership that enables all students to benefit from innovative learning opportunities within Clark Street Community School, our 9-12 democratic, place-based, personalized charter high school, and Middleton High School.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum requirement of a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or Leadership


  • Wisconsin Principal license (51) required


  • Wisconsin Director of Instruction license (10) preferred


  • Three years of administrator experience preferred (preference given for experience in schools that are racially, linguistically, & socioeconomically diverse)


  • Leadership experience across content areas of curriculum and instruction


  • Experience and training in equity and racial justice

  • Support the CSCS Mission, “To democratically cultivate a community of engaged learners, serve as a resource for educators, and a catalyst for reform in education throughout our region and our nation,” and the CSCS vision, “To be a leader in democratic, place-based and personalized education, facilitating inspirational and authentic learning experiences that engage students, families, educators, and the community.”

  • Understand district charter school function and work to maintain the charter and its independent policies


  • Ground leadership in the history and an understanding of the foundational practices of CSCS, while collaborating with staff, students, and the CSCS governance board to make informed recommendations that move the school’s mission forward

Human Resources Leadership


  • Provide ongoing supervision for school personnel

Operations Management


  • Administer, manage, and supervise the operations of the school, including student enrollment, student management, budgeting, and scheduling


  • Stay informed regarding relevant legislative policy and educational reform initiatives


  • Meet regularly with the Governance Board, prepare and share information on CSCS functions and activities, and develop strategic goals in concert with the board


9th-12th Grade Innovation (.50)

Strategic Planning and Implementation:


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with the district’s mission and goals


  • Identify and assess emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in education and career readiness


  • Create and oversee the implementation of pilot programs and initiatives that enhance learner-centered and profession-based learning opportunities


Program Development:


  • Design and support programs that integrate real-world experiences, such as internships, apprenticeships, and career exploration


  • Collaborate with educators to develop curriculum and instructional practices that incorporate innovative and profession-based learning approaches


  • Evaluate and refine programs based on feedback, performance metrics, and evolving educational needs


Partnerships and Collaboration:


  • Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, higher education institutions, and community organizations to support innovation and career readiness initiative


  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and professional development opportunities for educators and administrators


Research and Evaluation:


  • Conduct research on educational innovations, profession-based learning models, and effective implementation strategies


  • Monitor and assess the impact of innovation initiatives on student outcomes and make data-driven recommendations for improvements


Communication and Advocacy:


  • Advocate for innovation, learner-centered, and profession-based learning within the district and the broader community


  • Communicate progress, successes, and the challenges of innovation initiatives to constituents, including the Board of Education, families, and the community
