Director of Golf
Golf course in Florence, South Carolina is looking for a Director of Golf.
Position Overview:
Serve as a key leader within the club and is primarily responsible for delivering an exceptional member experience while driving the operational and financial success of the golf operation.
Duties:
• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the entire golf operation, ensuring exceptional service standards are continuously trained, upheld, and followed by all team members.
• Manage all aspects of the golf shop including merchandising, budgeting, staffing, and inventory control.
• Create and deliver a robust calendar of tournaments, leagues, and member events for all skill levels.
• Lead and develop the golf staff including assistant professionals, shop staff, and outside services teams.
• Supervise and support the Golf Course Superintendent by working collaboratively to ensure the highest standards in course conditioning, playability, and presentation are consistently achieved.
• Oversee the Director of Instruction ensuring excellence in private lessons, clinics, junior programming, and overall player development.
• Promote a warm, professional, and inclusive atmosphere for all members, guests, and staff.
• Play golf regularly with members and maintain a high level of visibility across all golf-related activities.
• Assist in new member orientation, integration, and retention by providing personal engagement and ongoing support.
• Work cross-functionally with club management and department heads to uphold the overall mission and quality standards of the facility.
Requirements:
PGA membership in good standing.
Minimum of 7–10 years in golf operations leadership, preferably in a highly visible private club setting.
Strong leadership capabilities with experience overseeing and developing multi-functional teams.
A track record of success in retail management, event execution, and financial oversight.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for member service.
Familiarity with agronomic principles and course presentation standards.
Instructional background and a credible golf game are highly preferred.
Compensation:
$100,000.00 per year.
