Job Summary This position, under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, is responsible for assisting with various Finance and Accounting tasks, including but not limited to, data entry, filing, preparation and reconciliation of general accounting transactions, invoice and payment processing, financial reporting, research and financial data analysis.
Essential Functions: - Assist staff accountants in their related duties and functions, as assigned, such as preparation of accounting entries, reconciliations, and reports, and researching various topics.
- Assist accounts receivable staff with its related duties and functions, as assigned, such as invoicing customers, gathering and reconciling supporting documentation, maintaining accurate records, recording payments and supporting collection efforts.
- Assist accounts payable staff in its related duties and functions, as assigned, such as processing vendor invoices, gathering supporting documentation, maintaining accurate records and communicating with vendors and Port employees.
- Assist FP&A staff with its related duties and functions, as assigned, such as reconciling credit card transactions and reports, reconciling budget files, and analyzing and reporting on various financial data.
- Contribute to ad hoc accounting and/or finance projects.
- Provide general support to Finance and Accounting staff to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department.
- Adheres to PCCA policy, and maintains good employee relations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Additional Physical Factors : While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
Environmental Factors : General office and outdoor work environments.
Minimum Qualifications: This is an internship position. Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a major in business administration; finance or accounting demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
