The City of Worthington is accepting test scores for both entry-level and lateral Police Officer candidates through September 30, 2024. Test scores received by September 1st will be ranked for initial review and consideration in the 2024 hiring process. The City will continue to accept and review additional test scores for hiring opportunities throughout the year.

All candidates must complete the NTN Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). The City of Worthington does not require a Physical Abilities Test as part of this hiring process; however, candidates who need to attend a law enforcement academy will be subject to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) minimum physical standards.

Pay Range for 2024:

Step A: $73,046
Step B: $86,167
Step C: $92,547
Step D: $108,295
Lateral Police Officer candidates with OPOTA certification and three or more years of full-time patrol officer experience will generally be placed in Step C or D of the pay range.

Benefit Information:
The City offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, prescription, vision, dental, and life insurance. Employees receive a holiday leave bank of 112 hours and vacation accrual based on total years of full-time public service in Ohio. Employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts are $1,000 for single coverage and $2,000 for family coverage.

The Worthington Division of Police is a community-focused, professional police agency with 33 full-time sworn officers, 6 reserve officers, and 3 civilian support staff. The agency is divided into three main components: Uniformed Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Administration. The department provides full policing services to the communities of Worthington and the Village of Riverlea, with a strong emphasis on partnerships with citizens and businesses. High School Grad/GED: Required
Valid Ohio Driver's License: Required (out-of-state candidates must obtain an Ohio license)
Ability to Read/Speak English: Required
Vision: Must have corrected vision in both eyes to 20/20.
College Degree: Not required but considered a plus.
Academy Certification: Not required but preferred.
Prior Experience: Not required but strongly preferred.

Additional Information:
A polygraph examination will be administered to each final candidate. This examination will explore areas such as employment history, general background, personal conduct, illegal drug use, alcohol use, and criminal activity. While the results of the polygraph examination will not be the sole determinant of employment status, deception corroborated by other means may disqualify a candidate from further consideration.
